COVID-19 Info

We here at Rocky Mountain Physical Therapy would like to take a moment to communicate with our patients during these troubling times of the COVID 19 crisis.

We have received numerous phone calls from patients wondering if our offices will be open to treat our patients and the precautions that we are taking at this time.

Being a healthcare provider, Rocky Mountain Physical Therapy falls into one of the sixteen “Critical Infrastructure Sectors” set up by the United States Government to help the people during times of natural disasters and national emergencies.

Not only are we NOT required to follow certain guidelines currently in place to limit the number of people gathering together to 10 or less, but the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) specifically says:

“IF YOU WORK IN A CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE INDUSTRY, as described by the Department of Homeland Security, such as healthcare services, you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule. You and your employers should follow CDC guidance to protect your health at work.”

So that is exactly what we are doing. At this time we are continuing to provide our patients with the treatments that are crucial to their recovery from orthopedic surgeries, motor vehicle accidents, strokes, cardiac events, strength and balance issues, and chronic pain.

As far as precautions go, we are following the CDC guidelines and taking the following precautions:

  1. We are asking that any patients exhibiting of the symptoms related to COVID 19 to cancel their appointments and stay home for 10 days after the last occurrence of symptoms.
  2. Any patient that feels more comfortable pausing their treatment until this situation is under control is being encouraged to do so without cancelation fees and with reassurances that treatment will resume when the patient is ready to return to our facilities. (schedule permitting)
  3. Patients entering our facilities are being directed to wash their hands according to CDC guidelines immediately upon entering.
  4. Employees are washing their hands frequently according to CDC guidelines.
  5. All surfaces are being cleaned numerous times throughout the day and all exercise equipment is being cleaned after each use.
  6. Elderly, high risk, patients are being placed in private treatment rooms rather than in the main clinic area.
  7. We have reduced the number of chairs in our waiting area and have requested that family members do not accompany patients to their appointments.
  8. We have spread out the chairs in the main clinic areas to maintain the “6 foot bubble” of space and have tailored our exercise routines so that patients are spread around the clinic rather than converging in one area of the clinic at the same time to do certain exercises.

Very recently, Medicare and Colorado Medicaid have approved “State of Emergency Changes to Telemedicine Services” allowing outpatient physical therapy visits to de done remotely through an interactive audiovisual connection such as Skype, WhatsApp, or a normal “video call” with a smartphone. This has just been approved within the last couple of days and we are currently researching their requirements and regulations to see if it is a feasible option for us. At this time it is only approved with Medicare and Medicaid however, it is our experience that most insurance companies follow Medicare’s guidelines and I anticipate other insurance providers will follow suit.

Sometimes it’s nice to have a little sense of normalcy during troubling times and as odd as it may seem, coming in for a physical therapy appointment may provide that for some of our patients. Ever since our inception, Rocky Mountain Physical Therapy has strived to make your recovery an enjoyable experience. We have always treated our employees and patients more like family and friends and we will continue to do so in the safest possible environment. Our goal is “Getting You Back on Your Feet” and we hope to see you all healthy, mind, body, and soul.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to give us a call.
